Gardener’s favorite plants:

  • Basil and fennel for smell
  • Wiregrass, lantana, and horseradish for texture
  • Big Bluestem and sumac for height

Challenges:

Invasive plants. Nearly any perennial plant can be invasive. Little Blue Stem, Side Oats Gramma, Sea Oats, Trumpet Vine, Garlic Chives, Moss Rose. All plants can be invasive and require time and effort to keep them contained.

Gardening Tips:

  • Perennial and annual flowers are wonderful but remember to incorporate vegetables in your garden. They provide a wide array of colors and textures to your garden.
  • Don’t judge your success as a gardener by the most exotic plants you can grow. Look for plants that like to grow in your space and grow and enjoy them!

How would you like someone to describe your garden?

I hope people find our garden a peaceful and relaxing place. I hope they leave thinking, “I believe I can find a way to incorporate several things I have seen into my garden area.”

Quote from Jerry:

This quote from St. Bernard of Clairvaux sums up my feelings regarding the importance of gardening and our environment. “Believe me, you will find more lessons in the woods than in books. Trees and stones will teach you what you cannot learn from masters.”
